New releases | 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon & 2016 Shiraz

We will be releasing our 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2016 Shiraz over the Easter break (closed Good Friday), so if you are in the area please drop in to the cellar door and get an early taste of these wines.

We only produced 150 dozen of the Cabernet Sauvignon and 120 dozen of the Shiraz, so they will not last long. The Shiraz is only available at cellar door and online, while the Cabernet will also be stocked by a few good restaurants, such as our friends at Shadow Wine Bar.

A classic Wilyabrup Cabernet from another great season in Margaret River. A very wet winter followed by a mild spring and a warm dry ripening period provided perfect conditions for the vines and resulted in wines with strong varietal characters and plenty of flavour. This is a wine of delicate structure with bright juicy fruit, integrated dusty oak, and subtle underlying earthy notes which add complexity. Highly scented aromas of blueberries and plums with subtle oak notes are reflected on the palate in the generous flavours and fine-grained tannins.

Prior Vintage Ratings/Awards:
2011: 94 points Ray Jordan; Highly Recommended - 2014 Decanter Panel Tasting Review of Coonawarra/Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon.
2013: 93 points Ray Jordan

2016 SHIRAZ (certified organic)
A medium to full bodied wine with lifted aromatics of mulberries, plums, spice and chocolate, plus some subtle charry notes from the oak. The flavours are focussed and intense, with generosity of fruit and a strong fine-grained tannin structure. The wine is drinking well now but will also age gracefully for up to 10 years.

Previous Vintage Ratings/Awards:
2013:   92 points James Halliday, 93 points Ray Jordan, Silver Medal – 2015 Sydney Royal Wine Show

The Stormflower wine dinner at Must Wine Bar on Thursday 17 May is coming up fast, so please book early as places are limited. Stuart Pym and I will both be there, and Stuart will be talking us through the wines and organic winemaking. Look forward to seeing you on the night.
