Things are still looking good for the 2019 vintage, although it will be hard to top the near perfect conditions that we got in 2018.
We had a very cool spring and early summer which has left development of fruit a little bit behind, but most varieties are on track for average yields and high quality fruit. The notable exception is our Semillon, which was all but wiped out by a cold snap that “burnt” the new growth and retarded development to the point where we may get no fruit at all this season. We are unlikely to make a Semillon Sauvignon Blanc in 2019. The good news is that the Sauvignon Blanc is having a big year, so expect to see a bit more of that around. Our exposed location gives us good air flow through the vineyard, and apart from a few pesky weevils, there is very little pressure so far from bugs and disease.
